6" Pilea Birdsnest - Crinkle H.B.
Pilea Nummularifolia
Crinkle Pilea is also known as Creeping Charlie, because of how this vine grows by creeping along the soil before trailing down the side of the pot. This Pilea is very easy to grown and very fast growing. A healthy plant, in the right conditions, will root out of the nodes (where a leaf grows out of the stem) that touch soil. This growing habit helps make your plant more bushy and full looking. Like most tropical plants, Pilea prefer higher humidity, so keep your plant away from drafts and vents. To increase the humidity around your plant, lightly mist the foliage with water once a week.
| | Crinkle Pilea grow best in bright, indirect light, but will tolerate occasional direct sunlight or darker shade. Too much direct sunlight can scorch this plant's delicate leaves, and too much shade will stunt growth. |
| | Like most tropical plants, Crinkle Pilea grow best in consistently moist soil, but not soggy. Allow the top inch of soil to become dry to the touch before watering. To test, stick your finger into the soil to the first knuckle. If the soil feels dry, it's time to water. Water thoroughly, discarding any excess water that may drain out the bottom of the plant. |
| | Pilea will benefit from a monthly application of fertilizer during the growing season (Spring and Summer). |
| | Trim your plant to maintain its shape. Pruning off the longer, leggier vines will help keep your plant looking healthier and bushier. |
